You buy a necklace online, we get to work. You buy a shirt at your favorite California surf shop or bag from a Manhattan boutique, we roll up our sleeves.
United By Blue hosts beach and waterway cleanups with our partners and retailers across the country, since every quiet creek and mighty river leads out to our oceans. Our volunteers are a mix of community members: from students to municipal employees, civic leaders to business owners, religious group members to service organizations.
Hear what some of our volunteers have to say about our cleanups:
“I wanted to let you know that our students really enjoyed your clean-up. You seemed to do a wonderful job educating them and making it meaningful, which is something that not all organizations take the time to do. So thank you!”
“It’s way more relaxed and feels way more communal than just a standard service day.”

When it comes to cleaning up our waterways, Subaru owners, employees, and volunteers are always revved up. Subaru, United By Blue and 107 volunteers removed 6,614 pounds of trash in just a few hours from the banks of the Cooper River.

Nearly 40 volunteers joined us for our season opener, including our youngest volunteer to date- a 5-week old baby. We’d like to thank Jeffery Miller Catering (for their staff volunteers and baked goods), Phi Chi Theta members from Drexel University, and Discovery Charter School for their help.
