UBB’s Commitment to Education
At UBB, we sincerely believe in the power of integrating good works into our core business model. We believe strongly in leveraging the power of our business not just to do good works but also to educate our community on issues affecting the world’s oceans.
Current generations are more receptive to the green movement than many that have come before us, and we welcome this great green awakening. Climate change, deforestation, chemical farming, melting ice caps, and numerous other landborn challenges have made their way onto the international stage and into everyday conversation. It would seem that the Green Movement is here to stay.
The Blue Movement, on the other hand, doesn’t receive quite the same amount of attention. All life on land depends on finely tuned underwater ocean ecosystems for survival, and yet issues like overfishing, dead zones, and plastic pollution are on the table of far fewer summit meetings and discussed over far fewer family dinners. The Blue Movement is still largely unknown.
In addition to alleviating the plastic pollution problem, UBB is also committed to educating our community on the issues. We do this in many ways, from producing a video glossary to hosting screenings of Blue Movement documentaries. Many of our products have also been designed to teach the wearer and to allow him or her to spread the Blue Movement message.
And because we hope our business model will inspire others to take on the challenge of using business to do good things, we also host conferences and other educational events for both students and professionals.
Lastly, we believe in a policy of complete transparency and welcome and encourage any and every question about the blue movement or about how we do things here. We maintain an open door policy, and welcome anyone who would like to learn more about the movement or our business practices.
We believe that real change is preceded by education, and we strive to educate in fun and engaging ways.
