United By Blue and Subaru Removed 3,399 Pounds from the Anacostia River

A little drizzle and clouds couldn't stop our amazing volunteers from cleaning up our waterways! The Anacostia River is only 8.4 miles long and yet it’s been deemed “one of the most polluted waterways in the nation”.So far this summer, United By Blue and Subaru have pulled over 10,000 pounds from two major East Coast waterways.

Thousands of plastic bottles
A child's Spiderman sneaker
A green army man
A naked Barbie
A toy leg
A trash bag from a previous river cleanup
A pipe smoking, Spiderman mask-donning, plastic jug filled with fresh flowers
