UBB Removed 120 Pounds of Trash from a Taiwan Beach
Location:
Date: October 07, 2011

On October 7th, UBB hit a new milestone--our first international cleanup! When it comes to removing trash, United By Blue never takes a vacation. On a recent overseas trip, our Chief Trash Collector couldn't resist the urge to clean up a beach in Hualien, Taiwan. Hualien is home to beautiful scenery, where mountain cliffs run directly into the azure colored sea. The ocean plays a big part of life in Hualien, its harbor is filled with lots of local and foreign fisherman.
In just a few short hours, Brian, his fiancee Joanna and future in-laws collected 120 pounds of trash. Among their trash collection was lots of fishing line, boating equipment, styrofoam, cigarette lighters, plastic cups that once held bubble tea, straws and bottle caps. They may have cleaned a different ocean another world away, but unfortunately the types of trash collected remained the same.
