UBB and Pico's Worldwide Removed 246 Pounds from Bear Creek
Location: Hawthorne Park Medford OR
Date: September 17, 201110:00 AM - 1:00 PM

United By Blue teamed up with Pico’s Worldwide to clean up Bear Creek in Hawthorne Park in Medford, Oregon. In a few hours, Pico's Worldwide staff and volunteers removed 246 pounds of litter from Bear Creek. Volunteers found a lot of plastic bottles and food wrappers, not to mention odd items like a football, a road cone, a few sleeping bags, some shoes and a Frankenstein comic book. Hawthorne Park and the Bear Creek Greenway, a 17-mile trail that runs through it, are frequented by cyclists and joggers wishing to enjoy the outdoors.
Pico’s Worldwide understands the impact of every choice we make, from what we drive to what we wear. That is why they sell sustainable, organic cotton, and hemp products, as well as products made from all kinds of recycled materials like oil drums and chopsticks! Pico’s also believes in the power of commerce for positive social good, evident in their support of fair trade policies. They carry everything from clothing to garden accessories, to bamboo soap.
United By Blue would like to thank our wonderful volunteers, Pico's Worldwide, Great Harvest for their delicious donation of coffee, muffins and scones and the City of Medford's Parks and Recreation Department for all their hard work!
